C2: Empowering energy: Gender transformative solutions for a just energy transition

Energy solutions for women and girls give more than just kWh – they empower women to improve their livelihoods, support education for their children and take ownership of their needs. Getting transformative energy solutions into the hands of women is key to a just energy transition and universal energy goals. At the other end of the value chain, women-led businesses are proving to have an outsized impact despite receiving only 10% of investment. This session brings together leading voices and actors at the energy-gender-climate nexus to discuss what more can be done to better understand women’s energy needs and create equitable opportunities for women in the sector; learn more about innovative financing tools such as gender co-benefits credits; and call for increased action to transform energy access and leave no one behind.
