GPA - UNITAR
About
The Global Platform for Action on Sustainable Energy in Displacement Settings (GPA) is the global initiative promoting access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy in displacement settings, as outlined in the Global Plan of Action Framework and contributing to an inclusive SDG7.
By fostering productive partnerships among various stakeholders, the GPA advances the quality, scale and replicability of energy programming in displacement contexts, thereby contributing to an improved quality of life for displaced and host communities. The GPA promotes and supports the humanitarian sector's transition to renewable energy, resulting in increased efficiency, decreased costs, and reduced carbon emissions. ‘
The GPA Coordination Unit (CU) oversees day-to-day operations, serving as the secretariat of the GPA and driving change through convening multi-stakeholder processes, collective advocacy, innovative funding, skills building, and evidence-based programming in the humanitarian energy sector.
The GPA CU is hosted at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
