Access to Energy Institute (A2EI)

The Access to Energy Institute (A2EI) is the first not-for-profit and collaborative research and development institute in the solar off-grid industry. We provide broad, reliable open-source data, hardware solutions and innovative financing mechanisms.
The A2EI is company agnostic and serves the entire decentralized solar energy sector.

Our core capabilities We provide transparent open-source data and transaction platforms The A2EI is providing its open source, free of charge data and transaction platform, called PROSPECT (prospect.energy) to all stakeholders in the SDG7 sector.

We engineer and co-develop reliable hardware Our core project is the development of a so-called solar generator that substitutes for small fuel generators, mainly in Nigeria. The first 2.000 standalone systems are installed and scaling is being prepared to replace the millions of fuel generators running daily in Nigeria. https://vimeo.com/749309026

We develop innovative financing mechanisms The main barrier to growth for solar generators in Nigeria is access to financing to procure solar generators. The A2EI, jointly with partners, is developing such a working capital facility, called Green Genset Facility for Nigeria (https://www.ggf.energy).
